Temporary Shelters
In response to needs across the state, there is specific guidance for ensuring temporary shelters comply with fire protection standards related to construction, occupancy, fire alarms and sprinklers.
Temporary shelters act as a safety net for individuals and families who would otherwise be without a place to sleep and typically serve over 700 people on any given night in New Hampshire.
All temporary/emergency shelters require approval from the local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), which is typically the Fire Chief or designee within a city or town.
