Right to Know / Public Record Requests
Please follow this guidance to expedite your request.
The NH State Fire Marshal’s Office (NHFMO) provides access to public records in accordance with New Hampshire’s Right to Know law. RSA 91-A promotes government transparency by establishing a person’s right of access to the records of public bodies and public agencies. Some information is protected by law. Records exempt from release are listed in detail in RSA 91-A:5.
Requesting a Public Record
All requests for records should state the type of record requested along with details of the incident/occurrence such as the date it happened, the street address and town, and information about the people involved. This will allow us to locate records more quickly.
You may use the fillable Request an Investigation Report form. Please save the form after you have filled it out, as it will not automatically save.

Fees for Records
- Most records can be released via email for which there is no fee.
- If a record is requested to be copied, the fee is $1.00/page.
- Larger electronic files will be supplied on a CD. The fee is $25/CD.
All payments must be received prior to the release of the records.
