One Person Deceased After Fire In Raymond

RAYMOND, N.H. – New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey, Raymond Fire Chief Paul Hammond and Raymond Police Chief Michael Labell announce that one person is deceased following a fire in Raymond.

On Monday, Nov. 4, 2024, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Raymond Fire Department responded to 13 Hummingbird Lane for a report of a house fire. When the first units arrived, they found fire and smoke coming from a window and door on the driveway side of the single-family manufactured home. Once firefighters made entry into the home and extinguishing efforts were underway, they located a person who was determined to be deceased. The victim was later identified as the occupant of the home, Lisel Kershaw, 61.

An autopsy conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Concord determined that the cause of Kershaw’s death was smoke inhalation, and the manner of death was accidental.

The investigation into the origin and cause of the fire is active and ongoing by members of the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office, Raymond Fire Department and the Raymond Police Department. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office at (603) 223-4289 or fmo@dos.nh.gov

The Raymond Fire Department was assisted by the Raymond Police Department, Deerfield Fire and Rescue, Epping Fire Department, Fremont Fire Rescue Department, Hooksett Fire Rescue Department and Candia Fire and Rescue.

State Fire Marshal Toomey would like to remind everyone of the importance of having working smoke alarms in their homes. In the event of an alarm activation or visible smoke or fire, residents should immediately exit their homes and call 9-1-1. Keep exits clear and accessible at all times and have a home fire escape plan. Anyone with questions about home fire safety should contact their local fire department or the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office.
