Individual Perishes in Manchester Apartment Building Fire
Manchester – New Hampshire State Fire Marshal Sean P. Toomey, Manchester Fire Chief Andre Parent and Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg announce that the Manchester Fire Department was called to 10 Dutton St. in Manchester on November 6, 2021, at approximately 6:10 PM, for a reported structure fire.
Upon arrival, an apartment building was found to be heavily involved in fire. After the fire was extinguished, a deceased victim was located on the second floor back porch of the structure. Another individual was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. During fire suppression activities, a Manchester firefighter sustained injuries and was also transported to the hospital for treatment.
Positive identification of the victim and cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy that will take place at NH State Medical Examiner’s Office in Concord, NH, on 11/08/21.
The investigation into the Origin & Cause of the fire is active and ongoing by members of the NH State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Manchester Fire and Police Departments.
State Fire Marshal Toomey wishes to remind all citizens of the importance of always having working smoke alarms inside and outside of all sleeping areas. When a fire is detected by smoke alarms, occupants only have seconds to escape before being overcome by the effects of smoke.
